At PROCCIP, we are always seeking ways to improve safety and efficiency in industrial processes. Today, we will discuss a solution developed to enhance safety in heat exchangers, especially relevant to the food and beverage industry.
Identifying the Challenge
In heat exchangers, the risk of cross-contamination due to leaks or microholes is a constant concern. Recent cases in the beverage industry highlight the severity of this problem.
The PROCCIP Solution
Our approach involves a combination of technology and innovation:
• Pressure Monitoring: We use pressure transmitters to continuously monitor the pressures on both the product side and the utility side.
• Backpressure Valve: Installed at the product outlet of the heat exchanger, its function ensures that the pressure on the product side is always higher than that on the utility side.
• Records and Alarms: Continuous monitoring is in place, with operating limits set so that, when these limits are reached, the process is interrupted for verification and intervention.
Why the PROCCIP Solution is Effective
In case of failure in the heat exchanger plates, the product flows into the utility side, preventing contamination of the product and ensuring the integrity of the process.
Additional Technology
To further enhance safety, PROCCIP recommends the installation of a turbidimeter on the utility side. This technology allows for the immediate detection of any product presence in the chilled water, enabling rapid corrective action.
Our proposal not only enhances product safety but also strengthens trust in the process. For the entire team, this means greater safety and efficiency in daily operations.
PROCCIP: First, the essentials.
